Greg died on June 25, 2008 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.

Greg was born in Salem, Ill., but moved to Texas as a child, so he had lived most of his life in the Lone Star state. Greg was baptized as a Christian in 1965. Greg was a member of First Baptist Church in College Station where he worked with pre-schoolers and served as an usher for many years.

Greg graduated from Luling High School in 1972 and Blinn College in Brenham in 1974. He then attended Sam Houston State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business in 1976. On September 26, 1981, his best friend, Sharon Davis, became his wife.

At the time of his death, Greg was director of human resources at Texas Transportation Institute, where he had worked since 1980. Nominated for his tireless service to fellow employees and his dedication to their well being, he received the 2007 TTI/Trinity Charles J. "Jack" Keese Career Achievement for Agency Support Award.

Greg was an active volunteer in his community, serving as a Girls’ City League Softball coach, a PTO officer at South Knoll Elementary School and A&M Consolidated High School, AMC Band Booster and officer and a member and officer of the Young Farmers’ Organization. In 2008, the A&M Consolidated FFA presented him with an Honorary Chapter FFA Degree.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Bill Richmond, and father-in-law, Duane Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of College Station; two daughters, Carrie and Anne of College Station; mother, Dina Richmond of Bryan; sister, Sandy of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Luray of Round Rock, Texas; mother-in-law, Marlene Davis of Brenham; brothers-in-law, Calvin Davis of Brenham and Mike Davis and wife, Mary, of Burnet.

Greg was a wonderful husband and father and a friend to so many. He will be greatly missed, but he will live forever in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
