Gerry Shearer

Gerald Edward Shearer went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 29, 2021. Gerry was born on July 15, 1943, in Bryan, Texas, to George and Lenora Shearer. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, in Bryan in 1961 where he met the love of his life, Mary Helen Scoates. They married on November 23, 1962 and had three children. Gerry graduated from Texas A&M University in 1965 with a degree in Industrial Engineering Technology. He was a proud member of the Aggie Corp and played the baritone for the "Fightin' Texas Aggie Band."

Gerry began his engineering career in estimating, scheduling, and customer service at Mosher Steel in Houston, Texas. Gerry and his family moved to Plano, Texas in 1978 after accepting a position as Engineering and Production Control Manager at Continental Steel in Garland, Texas. Gerry and his family loved to camp and would take their pop-up camper to many state and national parks. They purchased 30 acres in Edge, Texas where they built up their retirement home affectionately referred to as the COTU (Center Of The Universe). Following retirement, Gerry loved to sit on the porch contemplating life and gazing on God's beautiful creation.

Gerry is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers George Shearer Jr. and Robert Shearer, and his nephew George Shearer III. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary, his daughter and son-in-law Evelyn & Lyle Yarnell, son Mark Shearer, daughter and son-in-law Martha & Mark Lee, and grandchildren Steven Yarnell, Sophie (and husband Jordan) Braziel, Christopher Yarnell, Miles Lee, and Mason Lee.

He will be sorely missed, but we know with steadfast assurance that he is rejoicing in Heaven with the Saints, praising his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
