Gene "Roy Eugene" Hobson

Gene “Roy Eugene” Hobson, 89 of Walkersville, Illinois, passed away on December 16, 2023 in Bryan, Texas. Born on April 26, 1934 in Walkersville, IL, Gene was the beloved son of the late Howard P. Hobson and Mary P. Keller Hobson.

Gene graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in education and had a successful career as a paint contractor. Outside of work, Gene found solace in his hobbies; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and oysterman. Moreover, during the holiday season, Gene delighted his loved ones with his talent for making Christmas candy!

He was preceded in death his loving wife of 48 years, Wanda Hobson.

Gene is survived by his loving children, Ed Hobson and wife Lillian, Kathy Myatt and husband Randy, Jon Hobson and wife Wendy, Sandy White, and Donna Ince. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Tracy Hoffman, Michelle and Jesse Vessell, Austin and Jennifer Hobson, and Bill and Mike White. Gene’s legacy will continue with his eight great-grandchildren.

Gene will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and for his love for the great outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

In honoring Gene’s wishes, no public services will be held.
