Gail Jane Walker Smith, 85, was born July 13, 1938, and went Home to be with her Lord on July 27, 2023.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Gail grew up in Cache, Oklahoma and graduated from the local high school. She met her husband, Bobby Wayne Smith, at the skating rink and on August 17, 1957, she married him. Her wedding day and the birth of their daughters were the greatest days of her life! A homemaker, she loved raising her children; there are many wonderful memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas events as well as the beloved family reunion in Cache every summer.
Gail will always be remembered for her coral lips, rouge, sunglasses, and jewelry for every occasion. She was great at sewing and could alter anything to look great. She loved to bake; she made a fabulous cinnamon chocolate cake and chocolate meringue pie. She also loved to shop; the Avon lady was her best friend and QVC was a favorite shopping spot. She had an impressive collection of shoes, costume jewelry, and Christmas décor – she always made the holidays special for her family. She had a great love of music and passed this on to her family along with lessons of compassion and forgiveness because she believed that no one is perfect, but that family matters. Spunky and caring with an incredible sense of humor, Gail also had an ornery streak as she is remembered for saying, “If you’re hungry, you can suck on a button until dinner is ready” and “Bob! Go sleep in the garage!”
She has been reunited with her husband, Bobby Wayne Smith; parents, Chris and Ila Walker; Pamela Kay Paceley; brothers Chris and Dale Walker; and great granddaughter Camryn Blayne Heredia.
Gail is survived by her children, Vicki Tribble (Andy), and Ginger Pivonka (Troy); grandchildren, Anthony Tribble (Christiana), Amber Heredia (David), Ashley Coates (Matthew), Evan Stalbird (Sarah), Zachary Jones, and Heather Silva (Ray); great grandchildren, Cayden Tapley, Finley Heredia, Allison, Eli and Samuel Coates, Brynlee and Rhett Michael Jones, Scarlett, Xabi, and Alice Silva, and Jordan, Dillon, and Branden Tribble; and sister Beverly Slay.
The family would like to acknowledge Traditions Hospice and express their gratitude for their loving care.
