Edward Scott Wharton, 62, left this world on May 21, 2022
Edward loved whole-heartedly; his smile and laughter lit up the room. He was always going “to get to it” and made the best of circumstances in life while doing for others.
Edward was born in Germany and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Although his hero was his daddy, he loved fishing with his grandpa and working with him in his shop. He belonged to the Wild Turkey Federation; he loved his bow, reloading ammo, and skeet shooting. He became “Backwoods McGiver”! He also loved softball, riding his motorcycle, and the racetrack. He would go on to work in construction and lawn care, and always crashing equipment.
An altar boy growing up, Edward had a solid belief in God and enjoyed visits from church members. His biggest passion in life was his family, always remembering the first time his daughter called him Daddy. His granddaughter, Daddy and Granny Rene, his dogs, family gatherings, trips to the Frio River, and annual Sea World trips rounded out his love for life. Edward treasured his pictures of family and friends, his window to the past.
Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Mary L. Sutton, his grandparents, and many beloved pets. He is survived by his daughter, Chelsey Lee Hoffman, and granddaughter, Addison; son, Edward Scott Wharton, Jr.; father, Harry G. Wharton III; mom, Cerene Wharton; and siblings, Michael Dean Wharton, Jeffery Darryl Wharton, Lance L. Aldridge and wife, Becky.
The family would like to acknowledge the special care given by Hannah at Remarkable Hospice and the caregivers at Fortress Nursing Home for the last 14 years of loving care.
