Doug “Oogie” Tipton, 61, of Wheelock went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 15, 2008.
Doug was born on July 18, 1946, in Marlin, Texas, to Howard and Sybil Tipton. He was raised in Franklin and Bryan and attended Stephen F. Austin High School. He was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bryan. His greatest joys in life was his family and friends.
Doug was a true Renaissance man, carpenter, musician, outdoorsman and, most of all, he was a family man.
He was preceded in the death by his parents and a sister, Martha Hope Tipton.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Jo Tipton of Wheelock, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Tona and Allen Walker of Tomball and Sarah and Dustin O’Neal of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Howard Jr. and Michelle Tipton of Bryan; stepsons, Cullen and Nick Chadwick of Wheelock, Texas; grandchildren, Devynn, Corina, Ashlynn, Joshua, Cecelia, Jericho and Grace; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Bill Maniord of College Station; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
