Doug Boren

Douglas Boren, 82, of Iola, passed away on September 20, 2021. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 5-8 pm, at Hillier of College Station. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, at 10 am, with a graveside to follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Doug married the love of his life, Joan Lera Seigler Boren, on August 25, 1962. They spent 59 years together. In Doug's spare time you could always find him in his shop building away at anything that came across his mind. He was extremely talented with his woodworking skills and enjoyed selling and giving away his creations. Not many people can take a tree and turn it into a beautiful masterpiece, but Doug could!

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Joan Lera Seigler Boren; his children Laura Laney and her husband David Laney, Sandra Cernovich and her husband Brad Cernovich, Doug Boren Jr. and his wife Cindy Boren, Lisa Boren, and Jennifer Barfknecht and her husband Jayson Barfknecht; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
