Dorothy Mae Boswell McDonald, 95, was born December 30, 1926 and went to be with her God on February 20, 2022.
Dorothy was born in the Macey Community, Brazos County, to Thomas Luther and Mary Pearl Boswell. She lived in Brazos County her entire life and married Sam H. McDonald, Jr. on June 3, 1944.
Dorothy “Nanny” McDonald was loved by all who knew her, drawn in by her peaceful and content nature. She loved her God, treasured her family, and taught us all by example that it’s the people in your life that matter most. Everyone was welcomed into her home and she was ready to feed each guest the minute they came in the back door; it was not unusual for her to a have a living room full of company for no reason at all. You always knew you were loved and welcomed at Nanny’s house.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and twin sister, Doris Mathis. She is survived by her children, Betty Ann Leifeste and husband, Lloyd, of Kerrville; Bobby Sam McDonald and wife, Janet, of College Station; Tommy McDonald and wife, Donna, of College Station; and Billy McDonald and friend, Michelle Hughes, of Bryan. Dorothy is survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Chad Leifeste; Kathy Leifeste; Alan Leifeste and wife, Samantha; Wes Leifeste; Stephen McDonald and wife, Brenda; Sammy McDonald; Julianna Reese and husband, Sam; and Kimberly Hanks and husband, Jeren. Her great-grandchildren are Haley Salazar and husband, Alex; Riley Leifeste; Mason Leifeste; Shawn Leifeste; Landree Leifeste; Brady McDonald; Colby McDonald; Kennah McDonald; Brooklyn Reese; Weston Hanks; and Hunter Hanks. Dorothy is also survived by her sister-in-law, Bessie Ann and husband, Robert Lys of Navasota and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are her grandsons: Chad Leifeste, Alan Leifeste, Wes Leifeste, Stephen McDonald, Sammy McDonald, Sam Reese, and Jeren Hanks.
