Doris NeSmith, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and "Mamaw", passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 93.
Doris lived a full life motivated by her love of family, a tenacious spirit, formidable strength and a compassionate heart. She was born to Milton and Katie Brown in Huntsville, Texas, where she grew up on a farm with her three brothers and three sisters. It was also in Huntsville where she met her husband of 56 years, Ervin NeSmith. They were married November 10, 1944 and their son, Ronnie, was born the following year. They moved to Bryan, Texas in 1950. Their daughter, Carolyn, was born the same year. Ervin and Doris remained in Bryan where they shared a love of family, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. After Ervin's passing, January 15, 2000, Doris lived independently and spent her days doing the things she loved: fishing, cooking and playing cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends at their home on Lake Limestone.
Doris is reunited in heaven with Ervin, Carolyn, her parents, her siblings, numerous family and friends. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son Ronnie NeSmith and wife Nancy NeSmith of Bryan, granddaughter Gena NeSmith Martin and husband Jon Martin of Madison, Mississippi, grandson Ronnie NeSmith and wife Loree NeSmith of Bryan, great-granddaughters Taylor and Hunter of Bryan, her dog Buddy, many family and friends who continue to love, support and celebrate a life well lived.
A special thank you to the caregivers who assisted Doris and her family in the last two years, Lynette and Nancy in the beginning; Jessie, Tanner and Loree in recent days.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Hillier of BRYAN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution be made to Traditions Hospice.
