Dora Linda Guerra

July 27, 1946 — April 19, 2023

Dora Linda Guerra, 76, of Houston, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 19, 2023. She was born on July 27, 1946 to her parents Louis and Oralia Garza in Bryan, Texas.

Dora was a member of the South Belt Church of Houston, Texas, formerly known as Easthaven Baptist Church. She taught Spanish at Easthaven Baptist School and as a devoted Christian, she attended Sunday services and Wednesday Bible Studies. She always read her Bible and praised the Lord through song. She cherished her faith and had a close relationship with God since a young girl at Primera Iglesias Bautista in Bryan, Texas. Dora had a heart of gold and she loved her family and friends dearly, always praying for them.

Dora graduated from Stephen F Austin High School in Bryan, Texas in 1964 and married her Texas Aggie sweetheart in 1965. She graduated from Houston Community College in December 1979 and became a pediatric nurse until her retirement. She learned well from her dad, owner of Garza’s Café (one of the first Mexican restaurants in Aggieland) because her enchiladas, chalupas, vericruzanas, and empanadas were the best! Oh how everyone will miss her cooking!

She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Willie) Guerra; her parents, Louis and Oralia Garza; sister, Sylvia Ebbecke: and brother, Paul Garza. She also is preceded by her in-laws, Cristino and Carlota Guerra and her brother-in-law, Roy Guerra.

To cherish Dora’s memories are her children; daughter, Connie Guerra-O’Brien and husband Thomas; and son, William (Bill) Guerra; her sister-in-law Mary Helen and husband Alfred Sifuentez, and Minnie Ramirez and husband Tommy Sr. She also is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.

Her children would like to thank Nancy Grimaldo Pompa for always being there for her and they would also like to thank Aunt Mary Helen for faithfully calling her every night to tell her how much she was loved.
