Dale Roger Sargent was born April 23, 1942 in Madison, Wisconsin and died December 1, 2023 in Bryan, Texas. His father was Frederick John Sargent and mother was Ila Ruth (Clary) Sargent. Dale attended West High School in Madison, Wisconsin and then went on to Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, graduating in 1965 with a BS in Chemistry. Being a lifelong learner, he matriculated to North Texas State University in Denton, Texas completing his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1971. Dale started his professional career as a chemistry professor and, for many years, taught at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. After several entrepreneurial pursuits, he once again utilized his chemistry training and went into the business of water treatment testing and specialty chemical sales until his retirement in 2001.

As a young man, Dale enjoyed participating in and watching sports, especially his highly regarded Green Bay Packers. He loved seeing different parts of the U.S. and lived in Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, eventually returning to Texas. Dale relished travel and particularly enjoyed the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and the Holy Lands. He belonged to the Kiwanis Club and American Chemical Society. He was an avid reader and especially fond of Civil War and World War II history. His favorite book by far was the Bible, and he was an active and faithful member of the Church of Christ wherever he lived. Favorite hymns included “Amazing Grace” and “Be With Me Lord.” Meaningful scriptures in his life have been Psalms 23 and John 14:1-6.

Dale was a kind, loving man with a servant’s heart and a streak of mischief. He was very intentional with people and made them feel special. His family and church family breathed life into him. Around family, he loved joking, teasing, laughing, staying up late to play games, talking sports/current events, eating, and traveling with the Shake crew. We will miss our beloved “Uncle Dale.”

Survivors include his 6 nephew/nieces, 11 grandnephew/nieces, and 7 great-grandnephew/nieces.
