Mrs. Countess Moore Jones, 83, of Bryan passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2008, at her residence. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at College Station Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born on June 5, 1925, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Sidney Count and Edna Murphy Moore. She was educated at Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman’s University, in Denton, Texas. She was a reporter for the Dallas Morning News and the Sun News in Las Cruces, N.M. She was employed by the radio station KOBE in Las Cruces, N.M., as managing editor and served on the City Commission in Las Cruces for many years.
She was a devoted member of Bryan Woman’s Club in Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert Louis Jones.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Jr. and Alice Murphy Jones of College Station, and grandchildren, Sarah and Susannah Jones of College Station.
