Our precious mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend Coleen Barbara Bush passed away on February 2, 2022 at 2:22 p.m. at her home. She fought a courageous 6-½ year battle to recover from a massive stroke. She impacted lives for Jesus through her struggle to recover. She was always joyful and full of grace and peace as she continued to trust Jesus for healing. Today we praise Him for her healing!
Coleen was born on September 6, 1925 at Liberty Hill in Bowie County, Texas to William and Mary Etta Robinson. She was one of six children. She grew up in Brazoria County and spent most of her life there until moving to Bryan. She graduated from high school in Angleton, Texas as the valedictorian of her class. She then went to work for DOW Chemical as a purchasing agent until she married James Henry Bush in 1943. They were married for 64 years. Their home was the gathering place for friends and family. Everyone knew Coleen would have plenty to eat and you were always welcome around her table. She enjoyed sewing and dominoes and looked forward to game day at church each month. She loved her Sunday school class and served as a group captain for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Bush and her parents, William and Mary Etta Robinson, her siblings, Cletus, Opal, Haney, and Alvin, as well as her great-grandson Sam Cooper.
She is survived by her sister Nina Lonis of Navasota, and her children, Ronnie and Marie Bush of Waxahachie, Vicki & Carlan Cooper of Bryan, and her grandchildren, Heath and Emily Bush of El Campo, Kevin and Heather Ashby of Coppell, Matt Bush of Memphis Tennessee, Chris and Molly Cooper of Celina, and Casey and Carrie Wright of Bryan, and her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Connor, Jackson, Jordan, Mia, Mary, Claire, and Cate
