Cathy Deason

Cathy was born on October 23, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was raised in Port Aransas, Texas. She found her soulmate in her high school sweetheart, Switzer, and they were married in 1963. Cathy and Switzer created a life of love, parenthood, and partnership over 55 years together.

Cathy said goodbye to her small beach town at the age of 19, and she and Switzer went on a journey that took them to New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, Houston, and finally to Bryan-College Station in 1976 where they raised three daughters and became a part of the fabric of the community as owners of Central Texas Hardware.

Cathy was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Center during her 45 years in Bryan-College Station. She was an avid volunteer, working with St. Vincent de Paul, the Bryan Federal Prison for Women as a religious class leader, and as a certified spiritual director working with couples in the Catholic pre-marriage course.

Cathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and community member. She could be found supporting Switzer in business endeavors, leading bible studies, guiding and supporting her daughters, volunteering, and enjoying lunch and laughter with friends. Cathy was the foundation of her family with a quiet strength and unflappable spirit in the midst of constant activity. We will miss her smile, her warmth, and her caring nature for the rest of our days, and we rejoice in knowing that she loved and lived her best life.

Cathy is survived by many to carry her memory, daughters and spouses, Stephanie and Bill Breedlove, Gretchen and Erik Randles, and Heather and Jay Zynczak; grandsons, Davis Breedlove and wife Kettie, Austin Breedlove, Hunt and Grant Wyman, Reid, Graham and Cole Zynczak; and siblings, Bill Smith, Nancy Teller, and Tina Rabalais.
