Barbara J. Hobbs, 74, of Bryan, went to be with her Lord on Friday, October 31, 2014. A time for family to receive friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th Street in Bryan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 217 W. 26th Street in Bryan with Rev. Daryl Hay officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.

Barbara was born on January 18, 1940 to Ralph and Hazel (Banta) Weston in Portland, Indiana and was raised in Fairfield, Indiana. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1959. Barbara always credited her 5th, 6th, and 7th grade teacher, Mr. Bosse, for teaching her how to read and write, thus allowing her to graduate.

She was active in the square dance community and was a member of the Circle Squares. Barbara was a supporter of the Cen-Tex Parkinson’s Support Group. In addition, she was at every election day, proudly supporting her community and its citizens.

Every day was Christmas at the Hobbs House, Barbara loved finding presents for the many children she knew and baking pumpkin breads to share. Barbara loved shopping. She was known for wearing many different watches, earrings, accessories and fun hats. Her other passions included anything Disney and playing cards.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Shirley Haas and Richard Weston.

Barbara leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Arthur Hobbs; daughters, Melissa and Harold Best and Patty and Clyde Brunson; grandchildren, Rhiannon Best, Erin Best, Desiree Brunson, Ginny Best, Emily Brunson and Athena Brunson and great-granddaughter, Kenleigh Brunson. She will also be remembered by many friends and extended family.
