Aurora Anzaldua Sales

April 4, 1928 — February 19, 2024

On Monday, February 19, 2024, Aurora Anzaldua Sales, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 95 in College Station, Texas.

Born to Victoria Villareal and Adolfo Anzaldua in Raymondville, Texas, Aurora was one of eight children. A tenacious, intelligent and fun-loving child, she would exhibit those same qualities into adulthood as a loving wife, mother of two, and co-owner (with her late husband Ernest) of an upholstery shop in Harker Heights, Texas. As an entrepreneur, she leveraged a natural business savvy that helped her shop remain successful for more than 20 years. Her dedication to her business was only rivaled by her love of her family, which she always prioritized and inspired through her inner strength, kindness and generosity. More than anything, Aurora desired to see each of her family members succeed in their own lives. Their individual successes and achievements brought her true happiness, and she was always quick to remind them of how much she believed in them. As a grandmother, Aurora constantly showered her grandchildren with affection, making them the center of her world. She happily indulged their interests, whether that was hunting down the latest toys with them (even if she had no idea for what she was searching) or elaborately decorating her home for the Christmas holidays just to see their faces light up when they arrived. A devoted Catholic, Aurora demonstrated a resolute faith in God that brought her peace and, in turn, she embraced life to its fullest. As a widow, she remained independent for many of her golden years, living her retirement in Harlingen, Texas, spending time with family and friends, and taking the occasional trip to South Padre Island or Las Vegas to catch a show and find a lucky slot machine. Her mantra was simple: love your family, don’t let things keep you down, and always make the most out of life – lessons we all should live by. She will be missed.

Aurora is preceded in death by husband Ernest Sales, daughter Linda Jeanette Brock and son-in-law Richard Dale Brock. She is survived by daughter Gloria Garcia, son-in-law Rudy Garcia, grandson Ryan Garcia and granddaughter Dana Lanette Brock.

At the request of family, interment will be private.
