Annette McKenzie Zuber

September 3, 1955 — April 3, 2023

On Monday, April 3rd 2023, Annette McKenzie Zuber, 67, went peacefully to be with the Lord after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Annette was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 3, 1955 to T.A. and Martha McKenzie. She attended Dobie High School and graduated with her class of 1973. Annette was a cheerleader in high school and had many friends. A mutual friend introduced her to Billy Zuber, her husband, and they would build a life together for the next 48 years.

She and Billy moved to Germany where he was stationed, and she led the youth group events. She was able to travel all over Europe during those years. After moving back to the states, Annette would go on to work at NASA with United Space Alliance for over 30 years. She was a Space Shuttle Configuration Analyst and worked closely with the mission control room on the Space Shuttle missions. She made many friends throughout her time at NASA, including with the astronauts; she had so many precious stories of her time there.

She and Billy raised their two children, Matthew and Loren, and she was involved in their extracurricular activities as a dance, band, football and softball mom - always making sure they were ready and set up for success. She loved all kinds of crafting and would make gifts for loved ones. She decorated for every season and holiday. She also loved cooking and entertaining for family and guests.

She fulfilled her dream of continuing her education, completing her BA in Business Management at almost 50 years of age. She was an exceptional woman of God, wife, mother, and friend to many; she found time to be present for everyone and everything in her life. She always followed and looked to the word of God and never missed an opportunity to pray and preach God’s word.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, T.A. and Martha McKenzie.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Zuber Jr.; children, Loren Zuber and Matthew Zuber; nephews, Russell Zuber, Erick (Amy) Zuber, and Martin Zuber; and grand-nephew, Billy Zuber.

The family wishes to acknowledge Brazos Valley Hospice for the exceptional care provided for the past six months. We would also like to acknowledge our loved ones over the years including Vic and Alice Zuber, Russell, Erick (Amy), and Martin Zuber, Rick and Martha Wessinger, Emory and Susan Gadd, Judy and Rex Sanders, Leslie Horton Wells, Cindy Browne Prewitt, and many, many others.
