Annette Varisco

Annette Palasota Varisco, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, one month shy of her 93rd birthday, after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Annette was born on May 10, 1915, in Bryan to Lucille and Peter Palasota. She grew up in Bryan and it was here that she met her husband of more than 46 years, Joseph Anthony Varisco. She was a devoted wife, mother of four children, grandmother of ten grandchildren and great-grandmother of 12 great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, but her real joy was her family, home and garden. She was actively involved in civic and social affairs, including The Woman’s Club, the Bryan Garden Club and the Texas A&M Mother’s Club and she was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She also served on the boards of the BrazosCounty chapter of the American Red Cross and the Girls Club of Brazos County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Varisco; son, Dr. Brazos Joe Varisco; and siblings, James, Peter and Sam Palasota and Lelia Rotello.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothea Varisco and William Faubion and Lunette Varisco and Pierce Stacy III; son and daughter-in-law, Tony Joe and Sandra Varisco; daughter-in-law, Marsha Sowell Varisco; grandchildren, Annette Faubion Stephens, Dr. William A. Faubion Jr., Lezlie Varisco Pinto, Joe Varisco II, Dr. Lara Varisco Leonhardt, Brazos Varisco Jr., Toni Varisco Jennings, Cassandra Varisco, Troy Varisco and Pierce Stacy IV; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jane Starnes, Pauline Lewis and Frances Roppolo.

The family suggests that those who wish may make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeast Chapter, 3991 E. 29th St., Bryan, TX77802, 713-266-6400, or to a charity of your choice.
