What we want Anderson to know—A letter from your parents
I promised your dad when I found out I was pregnant that I would tell him in a cute way. But when I found out right before work one morning, I couldn't stand to wait. I woke your dad up and handed him the positive test that showed you were coming into the world.
Your dad and I were in different countries when we found out if you were going to be a boy or a girl. We wanted to do a gender reveal party, but I couldn't wait for your dad to get home. We looked at the results while on the phone together. To be honest, we both thought we were going to have a girl, but, secretly, I was hoping for a baby boy!
Your closet is stocked full of Aggie and Georgia gear. We were so excited to take you to every football game we could. I hope you send us some good luck this season while you are watching each game from above.
You were born with most of your dad's features: you inherited his athletic lanky figure with long feet and fingers and even got his middle name. But I can bet money that even though I never got to see them open, you got my eyes.
Your dad's favorite part of returning home from a job was seeing how much you had grown in my tummy and feeling your kicks. Each time, he literally would drop his luggage and run over with both hands ready to feel those legs kicking away, greeting him back home.
When I walk into your nursery, I see all the things that our friends and family bought for you. Even though no one got to meet you, I have never felt this much love from so many people. You brought all of that love together in one place.
Your grandparents, Nana and Pawpaw, are going to plant a tree for you right outside your nursery window. Your future brothers and sisters will know it as "big brother Anderson's tree." I know it will be their favorite spot. Your other grandparents, CiCi and Gus, will begin their gallery wall of grandchildren with your picture.
Please say hello to my grandmother for me in Heaven. I'm so jealous that she gets to meet you first. I hope she soaks in all the cuddles for me.
In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you make a contribution of a Hope Box in Anderson's name to Hope Mommies.
