Amelia Garcia

August 29, 1967 — July 29, 2023

Amelia “Meli” Garcia was born August 29, 1967, and passed into the arms of her Lord on July 29, 2023.

Meli grew up in Bryan Texas; her favorite childhood memories were going to Mrs. Laura’s and buying candy, playing outside until sundown, waiting for the snow cone man to come by, and chasing the mosquito man around the block. She graduated from Bryan High School in 1985.  She met Frank Garcia on October 13, 1996 at her brother’s house and drank coffee until 2:00 am at Bennigan’s. They were married on March 1, 1997.

After working in the dental field for 25 years, Meli found her true calling at The Langford. What started off as her working as a part-time concierge soon turned into her calling and passion to serve seniors. She became part of the Executive team at the Langford as the Sales Counselor. Meli was awarded many awards in her short time at MRC, and was truly loved and adored by all the residents.

Faithful, loving, and fierce, Meli had unconditional love for others and was an obedient servant of God. She loved Jesus and His Word, her church family, and being part of the church for many years as a minister for over 12 years.  Caring for seniors was a passion because she got to talk about Jesus with them; she shared Jesus with everyone she met!

She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and BBQs and family trips to Fredericksburg were favorite times. She passed on her baking and cooking skills, especially her famous dressing and banana pudding. Meli had a love for fashion, but she also loved to be outside planting and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Albina Contreras; niece, Ella Rose, great nephew, Noah Moore; and great niece, Imania Moore.

Meli is survived by her husband of over 26 years, Francisco Garcia; children, Racquel Rivera (Jose), Blanca Garcia (Daniel Rodriquez), Emily Rios (Rocky), Aimee Garcia, and Frankie Garcia; god-daughter, Valery Contreras; grandchildren, Aaron Gonzales, Paris Ellis, Rocky Rios III, Ava Rodriguez, Penelope “Peaches” Rivera, Dominic Rios, and London Ellis; her father, Isabel Contreras; and her sister, brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
