Amanda Garcia Mimbela, 73, of Bryan passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008. Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Hillier Funeral Home with Rosary recited from 6 to 7 p.m.
Amanda was born on February 6, 1935, to Manuel and Antonia Garcia. She enjoyed life and lived everyday to the fullest. Her hobbies included sewing, music, dancing and spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Alice Davila; and brother, Robert Garcia.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Richard Gomez of Lake Jackson, Texas, Viola and Roy Ramirez of Sherman, Texas, Patricia and Kenneth Byer of Ohio, Deborah Jimenez of Indiana, Julia and Juan Arizpe of Madisonville, Marty Jimenez of Houston and Connie Jimenez of Bryan; sons and daughter-in-law, John and Sentea Jimenez of Bryan, Richard Jimenez of Houston and David Jimenez of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Estella Garcia and her daughter, Marie Petty; brothers, Paul Garcia, Lupe Garcia, Manuel Garcia, all of Bryan, and John Garcia of New York; sisters, Paula Gomez and Mary Garcia, both of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
