Mike Evans

Mike Evans passed away Sunday, December 20th, surrounded by his loving friends and family in his home in College Station, Texas. He precedes his parents, Lometta and Dale Evans, and his brothers Jim Brownell, Charles Brownell, Robert Evans, and his sister Theresa Calderon. Mike is survived by his wife Kathy Evans, son Michael Evans and daughter-in-law Keola Evans, brother Daryl Evans, and sisters Racine Meyers and Lori Gether, including sisters-in-law Roxanne Evans and Lucy Knepper.

Mike was known to have an endless passion for helping those around him. His measure of success was not how far in life he got, but how much difference he made in the lives of those around him.

Being incredibly gifted in music, Mike participated in a charity event called The Texas Big Beat. This organization raised money for Cherish our Children international and Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. These music programs help teach many children the joy of music.

Mike was also a creative and imaginative man. He understood almost any device or machine's inner workings and was always looking to broaden his knowledge on topics that he did not already grasp. Working at ST Genetics, he developed many patents over his career, worked with the International Society for Advancement of Cytometry, and helped cultivate a rich, fulfilling workplace. Those who worked with him could always tell you about his ability to create an inspiring space and facilitate others' success.

Mike felt most at home in the great outdoors. As an avid fisherman and hunter, he spent countless hours in nature. From hunting in Texas to fishing in Minnesota, Mike was a true outdoorsman. You could always find him out in the boathouse, getting ready for the next bout of fishing.

The trails are a little lonelier with you gone.
