Ray Raymond Rowland, 83, of Bryan, went to be with his Lord on August 14, 2017
Ray was born on November 11, 1933 to Joseph Darden and Tracy (Piewetz) Rowland in Caldwell, Texas. Ray, along with his 3 siblings had a humble childhood, he graduated from Caldwell High School and enlisted in the US Navy. During his 20 years as an enlisted officer Ray’s work as a Naval Electrician was of great significance during the Korean and Vietnam War.
Ray married the love of his life, Julia Eubanks, at the First Baptist Church of Caldwell, Texas and the two have been together for 54 years. Together they shared many joyous memories and had 2 beautiful children, Brad Rowland and Susan Rowland Winters, both of Bryan, Texas.
Ray was a fun-loving man who loved nothing more than to be around people. Ray’s hobbies of wood working in his workshop, gardening in his yard, or playing with his beloved dogs Puddles and Scooter was often how his free time was spent.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Kathleen Wimberly and Roy Rowland.
Ray leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Julia Rowland; children; Brad Rowland, and Susan Rowland Winters; and brother, James Rowland.
A time for family to receive friends will be from 5-8PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Parkway Baptist Church, in College Station with Rev. Jim Abbott of Peace Lutheran Church and Pastor Chris Snidow of Parkway Baptist officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell, Texas with Randy Lunsford officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Brazos Valley or Charity of Choice.
