Johanna Baldwin

Johanna Cheatham Baldwin went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the age of 82, in her home in Wellborn, Texas. She was born to William Verne and Anna Bowen Cheatham in Miami, Florida on April 8, 1935. Johanna attended Coral Gables High School in Coral Gables, Florida, where she met Douglas Baldwin, whom she married August 20, 1955.

Doug and Johanna resided in Houston, California, and Connecticut over the years, before settling in Conroe, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University with a BA in Biology. In more recent years, she especially enjoyed ranching with Doug in Leon County, before retiring to Wellborn, where she continued to express her love for landscaping and gardening. A devout Christian, Johanna had an unwavering faith in God, which she sought to instill in her family and all around her. She tirelessly devoted her life to Him, her husband, and her children. In addition to serving her family, she served God in various other forms of ministry, including English as a Second Language, teaching Sunday School, and church ministries, constantly ministering to individuals and families in inconspicuous but invaluable ways.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Baldwin, her children, John Baldwin, Phyllis Snowden, Sara Horton, and Natania Cook; and her grandchildren: Mark and Bill Baldwin; Timothy Benjamin, Luke, Anna, Lydia, and Seth Snowden; Joshua and Joel Horton; and Theodore, Ruthie, Levi, and Lucy Cook. The family will be holding a private memorial service in College Station, Texas on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
