Guy McShan
April 21, 1931 – July 3, 2017
Guy Lorenza McShan passed away peacefully from this life July 3, 2017. He was born in Mabank, Texas on April 21, 1931. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. After returning to America he married his sweetheart, Shirley Ann Burris in Dallas, Texas. The couple had four children and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in April. Guy began singing in high school and loved barbershop harmony. He was a proud baritone in the Innsiders quartet. The barbershop group won the International Quartet Championship in San Francisco in 1976 and toured England, Germany and all over the U.S. He treasured the friends he met through singing, and in recent years his Bryan-College Station “Lunch Bunch” friends. He so much looked forward to gathering with them regularly. After retirement, he started a company called Guy’s Clock Service. He enjoyed cooking and new gadgets. His children and grandchildren would often call him Gadget Man or Papa Guy. He was a kind man who cared about others.
Guy is survived by his wife, Shirley; son Jeff McShan, and soon to be daughter-in-law Edith Li; daughter Brenda McShan; daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Barry Johnson; son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Alisha McShan; grandson Spencer McShan; and granddaughter, Emily McShan.
