Stella (Sadowski) Poulson

Stella Poulson, age 102, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Crestview Nursing Home in Bryan, Texas, less than 2 months shy of her 103rd birthday. She is now at peace with the Lord.

Stella was the second child of Michael and Helen (Szopinska) Sadowski. She was born in her parent’s home in Port Huron, MI on May 27, 1915.

The family later moved to Detroit and then to Pontiac, MI. Since her parents spoke Polish at home, she had to learn to speak English at school. She became very adapt with both languages and soon became an interpreter in school and in the courts for the Polish, Russian, and Bulgarian children to learn the English language.

In 1936, Stella married Charles Edward Poulson, son of William Jasper (Clyde) and Mable (Yingling) Poulson. She became a homemaker and was blessed with two children; Mary Elizabeth and Charles Edward Jr.

The family moved to Milford, MI where Stella was very active with her church. She was very accomplished in knitting. She knitted dozens of beautiful sweaters- some with intricate designs- for her husband, daughter, son, son-in-law, grandchildren and other members of the family. In addition, she knitted gorgeous Christmas stockings for her children, son-in-law, grandchildren and their spouses, and her great-grandchildren.

After her husband Charles retired, the couple moved to Leesburg, FL. In addition to her love of knitting, Stella became very talented with her newly found pastime of make ceramic items. She showered her family with many beautiful ceramic works of art.

Stella moved to Bryan, Texas and took residence at Crestview Nursing Home for 13 years.

Stella was proceeded in death by her loving husband Charles, parents Michael and Helen Sadowski, siblings John, Helen (Bailey), Walter, and Genevieve (Griggs). She is survived by her daughter and spouse Mary Elizabeth and Conrad Dudek; son and spouse Charles Edward Jr. and JinSuk Poulson; 9 grandchildren Lynn (Dudek) Williams, Cynthia (Dudek) Praesel, Michelle (Dudek) Lusk, Michael Dudek, Bethany Poulson, Jessica Poulson, Noah Poulson, Joshua Poulson, and Jonah Poulson; 7 great-grandchildren Erin (Williams) Langlois, Emily (Williams) Gonzalez, Kyle Williams, Nolan Praesel, Mackenzie Lusk, Charles Dudek and Jacob Poulson; and her 4 great-great-grandchildren Autumn Langlois, Jordan Langlois, Hope Langlois, and Leo Gonzalez.

The family extends a very sincere thank you to the staff and management at Crestview for the excellent care and attention given to Stella where she had a happy 13 years of her life. The love and care that the staff gave to Stella were exceptional. The family also wishes to thank Hospice Brazos Valley for the care given during the last week of Stella’s life.
