Sherri Brice

Sherri Renee Brice passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the age of 55 after her brave battle with ALS.

Sherri was born October 25, 1963 in Channelview, Texas to Kay Cornish and Doyle Jones. Her mother did secretarial work, while her father was a CPA. She was raised in a loving home and spent most of her younger years in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sherri was in the first grade when her parents divorced, and always claimed she did a good job of raising her mom after that. Sherri gained two younger brothers, Douglas and Daniel, when her mother remarried. As a child and teen, Sherri danced, was on the student council, drill team, choir, and was active in her local Methodist church. She was always full of life, energy, and was quick to light up a room. After graduating from McClellan High School in 1982, Sherri went on to receive her Bachelor's of Science in 1986 from the University of Arkansas. During her time there, she was an active member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She then went on to the University of Houston College of Optometry and obtained her Doctor of Optometry in 1990.

Sherri met the love of her life, Michael Brice, on the first day of orientation at the University of Houston. They were married on January 7, 1989 before they went on to graduate from the University of Houston in 1990. After moving to northwest Arkansas, their first child William was born in 1991. They moved back to Texas where Katie was born in 1994, and Joshua in 1998. Sherri was a great mom, very loving and involved in her children's lives. From being a band mom to a dance mom, she was always there for them. Sherri was a wonderful example of how to be a good and loving mother, wife, and friend—all while managing her own Optometry practice. She loved celebrating Christmas with her family; it was her favorite time of year. Sherri had an annual baking day with her best friends where they would bake from sunrise to sunset.

Sherri worked as an Optometrist and was the prior owner of Crystal Vision Center in College Station for many years. Though this kept her very busy, she always had time for something else. She was active in the First Baptist Church of College Station, teaching 6th grade Sunday school and was very involved in Junior League of College Station for some time. She was a Docent at the George Bush Presidential Library and was part of Bunko groups and book clubs. When Sherri wasn't working or volunteering, her family enjoyed many trips to Disney World.

Sherri is survived by her beloved husband Michael Brice; her son and daughter-in-law William and Crystal Brice of College Station; her daughter Katie Brice of Houston, her son Joshua Michael Brice of College Station; her mother and step-father Kay and Bobby Cornish of Streetman, Texas; her father and step-mother Doyle and Linda Jones of Cabot, Arkansas; her mother-in-law Ollie Brice of College Station; her step-brother Douglas Cornish and his wife Chelsea of Dallas; her step-brother Daniel Cornish and his wife Cathy of Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her father-in-law John Brice.

To honor Sherri's life, her family has planned a visitation on Wednesday, April 3 from 6 to 8 PM at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station. Her Celebration of Life will be Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 10 AM at First Baptist Church of College Station.
