Sharon Foster

Mrs. Sharon "Kay" Foster of College Station passed away on April 11, 2019 from natural causes at the age of 72.

Born in Hardtner, Kansas, to Muriel and Chester Raleigh, Kay grew up in a small farming community, participating in 4H and learning wonderful recipes from her mom. She graduated from Isabel High School in 1965, where she excelled in journalism and the jazz trumpet, as well as her studies. She went on to learn business skills that would serve her well in her 20-year role as office manager for Texas A&M Extension Service (District 6), retiring in 2004.

After graduating, friends arranged a blind date for her with Michael "Mike" Allen Foster from neighboring Pratt, Kansas. They married on May 18, 1973 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. The next 43 years took them to Laramie, Wyoming, Vernon, Texas (where their son, Chris Foster, was born in 1978), College Station, and eventually Fort Stockton, Texas for 30 years. In 2011, Kay and Mike retired to College Station to be closer to Chris and their grandson, Max.

Kay was a fierce and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved baking and cooking, with a special affection for making strawberry bread for Max and corn casserole for friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, golf, and Christmas. Her strong-willed determination was an indelible character trait, as well as her devotion to her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Kay is survived by her husband Mike, son and daughter-in-law Chris and Sarah, and her beloved grandson Max, all of College Station, Texas.

To honor Kay's life, a funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 10am at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station. Kay will be laid to rest at College Station Memorial Cemetery in College Station, TX at 11:30am on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.
