Salia “Celia” Turrubiartez passed away September 4, 2018 at the age of 78.
Celia was born December 12, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas to Francisco and Refugia (Veduges) Guetierrez. She and her beloved husband Ramon were married for 48 years, and enjoyed traveling and going to dances together. Her family was extremely important to her, and she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Celia was a very hard worker. She picked cotton, worked with fiberglass and insulation, and was an excellent homemaker. She took pride in cooking and providing for her family. She was determined and had a lot of pride, never letting her family know when she was having a bad day. She enjoyed making people laugh and was definitely a joker. She loved camping at places like The Hole in the Rock in Utah or in Colorado. She also loved other outdoor activities like going to the beach. Celia loved to go to flea markets. She collected dolls, little nick knacks, and jewelry. She took pride in her appearance, and enjoyed painting her nails and doing her make-up.
Celia’s faith was very strong. She was a devoted Catholic with a deep love for The Virgin Mary, Saint Jude, and of course Jesus Christ.
Celia leaves behind her husband Ramon Lopez Turrubiartez, her son Victor Garcia, her son and daughter-in-law Don and Dina Tonche, her daughter Sally Chancey, her daughter and son-in-law Cecilia and Ezell Brown, her daughter Margie Tonche Martin, her grandchildren Vvonne Garcia, Vikkie Garcia, Olivia Garcia, Victor Garcia, Daphanie Nesmith, Priscilla Pearce, Stacie Goodson, Renee Brown, and Cecilia Gina Brown, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, her sister Mary Helen Saldibar, her sister Louise Guetierrez Campos, her brothers Jose Guetierrez and Mike Deleon, along with many nieces, nephews, and sibling.
To honor Celia’s life, a visitation will be held from 5 - 8 pm on Monday, September 10, 2018, at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan with a Rosary to begin at 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 507 E 26th St, Bryan, TX 77803. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
