Ric Gonzalez

Ric Gonzalez

Ricardo Gonzalez passed away July 15, 2019, at the age of 44.

Ric was born November 23, 1974 in South Houston to Alfredo and Maria Irma Gonzalez. His father worked construction, while his mom was a stay-at-home-mom. Growing up, Ric ran cross-country throughout his time at South Houston High School. After graduation, he went to San Jacinto College.

Ric met his future wife, Juanita Marisol Quintanilla in Houston on April 8, 2000, and exactly five years later, the two were married. His four sons, Blake Gomez (23), Christopher Gomez (21), Nicholas Alfredo Gonzalez (17), and Ric Ethan Gonzalez (16) meant the world to him. He was proud of all of them. Although he had to deal with many challenges with his son Ethan's autism, he was an amazing father to all his boys. He was very devoted to his wife and family.

Ric was a loving but stubborn man with strong Catholic morals. With his caring, patient, and forgiving nature, he lived out his faith. He was passionate about his family and his work. A very hard worker, he was a grocery manager for HEB Bryan #1 for many years, working his way up from stocker to manager. As hard as he worked, he enjoyed spending as much time as he could outdoors, running four marathons, making winter time double meat with cheese midnight hamburgers, eating ice cream sandwiches and going deep sea fishing. He loved football and baseball, especially the Green Bay Packers and Houston Astros, and had a strong interest in space and astronomy. With his strong faith and love of family, he also enjoyed the holidays. Not a year went by without Ric going all out to decorate his home. He enjoyed cooking and grilling and made delicious BBQ ribs and pancakes. Ric enjoyed snacking on sunflower seeds and drinking his Bud Light. He collected caps, shot glasses, and beer mugs.

Ric leaves behind his beloved wife Juanita Marisol Quintanilla-Gonzalez, his sons Blake Gomez, Christopher Gomez, Nicholas Alfredo Gonzalez, and Ric Ethan Gonzalez, and all his in-laws. He will be dearly missed.

In order to honor Ric's life, his family has planned a visitation on Thursday, July 25 from 5-8 PM at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station, with a Rosary to be said at 6:30. A second visitation will be held Friday, July 25 from 5-8 PM, with a Rosary to be said at 6:30 at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station.
