Miller Frederick (Rick) Conlin, Jr. died peacefully at home on January 10, 2019 at the age of 70.

The first of three children, Rick was born to Miller and Hermine Conlin on February 19, 1948 in New Orleans, La. He attended De La Salle high school on a baseball scholarship and was committed furthering his education for much of his young adult life. He went on to earn a B.S in Civil Engineering from Tulane University, a M.S. in Civil Engineering with concentrations in Geotechnical and Structural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, a M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a J.D. from the University of Houston Law School. He was member of the Texas State Bar, Texas Society of Professional Engineers and American Society of Civil Engineers. During this time, Rick also proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

Rick met his wife, Nancy, in Houston, Texas where they married on May 24, 1975. Together, they raised a son, Randy, and two daughters, Shannon and Kelly. Rick later became a beloved “Bapah” to eight adoring grandchildren.

Rick lived in College Station for over 26 years, during which time he served the community as a deacon at First Baptist Church Bryan, established two engineering firms and served as the engineer of record for numerous restaurants and stores, university properties, and building sites throughout the Brazos Valley. Rick will be most remembered for his indomitable spirit, unfailing kindness, and devotion to his friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Bryan. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
