Mary Louise Gooch

Mary Louise Henson Gooch, of Bryan, passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2021, surrounded by her closest loved ones. She went to be with her Lord at the age of 91 years.

Mary was born on September 30, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to her loving parents, Chester Henson and Katherine Christy. As a young girl, Mary enjoyed going to school and church. In fact, she loved it so much, she didn't miss a day from 1st grade through 6th! Later in life, Mary returned to school and earned her GED. She then received her real estate license.

Mary married the love of her life, William Raymond Gooch, in 1947, and they married for a lifetime. They met after the war was over; while he and his mother rented a room from Mary's mother. They secretly fell in love, got married, and told everyone weeks later. It was a love story for the ages.

Mary appreciated her family, and loved spending time with her family. She taught them to do unto others as you would have others do unto you, and never hold a grudge. Some of her fondest memories were spent with her family, during Christmas time, treasure hunting, or even just hanging clothes on the clothesline while the kids were running around her! She felt blessed every minute she was able to be with her family.

Mary was a collector of family, loving others, and giving of her heart. She always enjoyed a great road trip full of adventure with her family! She loved to play slot machines and watch anyone else play too. She was always proud of how she could float on top of the water without any hesitation or assistance too! She enjoyed adventures, especially with her family. Mary always had special phrases she believed "don't bargain with God" and "never play favoritism among your kids." She was a true believer in the Lord. She grew up Pentecostal, and became a lifetime Baptist. Her favorite passage was Footprints in the Sand. She felt she was always blessed by the Lord and having her family.

Mary will be reunited with her soulmate and lifelong love, William Raymond Gooch; her parents, Chester Henson and Katy Christy; grandchild, Cody Wade Batten; and great-grandchild, Cameron Gooch.

Mary will be missed by her seven children, Ronald Wayne Gooch and wife Sharron Gooch, Shirley Lynne Pearce and husband David Pearce, Martha Kay Batten and husband George Batten, Donald Ray Gooch and wife Robin Schweda, Sharon Sue Spence and husband Mark Spence, Deborah Elaine Ferreri and husband Lamont Ferreri, and Tina Louise Sauseda and husband Willie Sauseda. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Caryn Novominsky, Dawn Gooch Marks and husband Anthony Marks, Jason Gooch and wife Stephanie, Aaron Gooch and wife Emmie, Lacey Pearce Harwood and husband Stephen Harwood, Courtney Pearce, Shana Kay Batten, Blake Batten and wife Jamie, Bridget Batten, Jeremy Gooch and wife Jamie, Chad Spence and wife Shelly, Justin Spence and wife Sarah, Christy Ferreri Hulin and husband Leo, and Caleb Ferreri and wife Nicole; and 23 great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
