Mary Ann Gomez

Mary Gomez passed away April 28, 2018 at the age of 60.

Mary was born March 23, 1958 in Chriesman, Texas, to Macario and Erlinda Martinez. As Mary was growing up with her six brothers and sisters, they lived in Caldwell and then moved to Bryan. Her mother Erlinda worked for College Station ISD in the cafeteria and as a bus driver, while her father Macario served in the military before becoming a boot maker at Holicks Boot Shop, where he proudly made boots for Aggies. Mary had a very happy childhood with her family. She loved going to dances and spending time with her sisters Elsie and Janie.

When Mary was just 15, she met the love of her life, Ruben Gomez, through a friend of a friend. They eloped and had a simple courthouse wedding. Reuben was born shortly after, followed by Ronnie, Donnie, and Mark. Mary loved being a wife and mother. She loved her husband dearly and their children were her life. She constantly reminded them to “Wear your seatbelt.” She was a selfless person, always putting others first, especially her family. She always told her family, “Love you more.” One of her favorite vacations was going to Galveston with her sons. She continued to have a close relationship with her family, especially her sister Elsie. The two of them enjoyed their vacation together in New Mexico. When she had free time, Mary enjoyed going to yard sales to find a good deal. She loved her pets Pepe, Sadie, Chiquita, Chicle, and Mommy.

Mary loved God. She gave her life to Jesus and enjoyed sharing His love with everyone she met. She attended SOS Ministries and Brazos Fellowship. Her faith in Jesus was very important to her, bringing her inner peace. She lived out her faith by being a loving, compassionate person who had a heart for everyone.

Mary leaves behind a loving family to mourn her loss. She leaves her mother Erlinda Martinez, her sister Elsie Mixon, her brothers Manuel Martinez, Mac Martinez, and David Martinez, her son and daughter-in-law Reuben and Salina Gomez, her son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Casey Gomez, her son and daughter-in-law Donnie and Irene Gomez, her son Mark Gomez, her grandchildren Johnathan Gomez, Marcieana Gomez, Donnie Gomez, Marissa Gomez, Courtlan Gomez, Santana Gomez, Serena Gomez, Nevaeh Gomez, Nathaniel Gomez, Dorian Espino, and Brittany Marquez, and her great-grandkids Damian Gomez, Jesiah Gomez, Adeline Pena, Reyna Medina, Jazlyn Gomez, Aeriel Cruz, Joseph Lawson, and Khloe Gomez.
