Mark Anthony Davenport, Sr.
June 11, 1976 ~ October 26, 2019 (age 43)
Mark Anthony Davenport Sr. passed away October 26, 2019.
Mark was born June 11, 1976, in Bryan to Cora Mae (Huddlen) Davenport and Marvin Phillips. And raised by his stepfather, Robert Newman. Growing up in Bryan his mom worked at Montgomery Wards and his stepfather was a local barber. Mark grew up the youngest of three children. He was loved by all that knew him. As a young boy he enjoyed football and basketball. At an early age Mark formed a brotherhood with Brylan Davis and Christopher Monroe Sr.
Mark accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. C.L. King. Mark later moved his membership to Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist church still under the leadership of Dr. C.L. King. Mark graduated from Bryan High School in 1994. He went on to receive his Pest Control certification and worked at Bryan Housing Authorities as a case worker.
Mark married his high school sweetheart Tiffany Spates and together they had three beautiful children. Despite being a father at a young age he was able to be a father for not just his kids but to all his nieces and nephews as well. He would always greet you with a smile, could talk to anyone, loved spending time with all his family, loved music, loved cooking and eating. Mark was always loyal and sincere with the people he loved. He was very protected with his family and his sisters Ruthie and Veronica (Niece).
Uncle Mark would always tell us to greet people with a handshake not a handout. ~LeFrederick and MarQuis Johnson
I Love you Uncle Mark, you'll always be in my heart. My uncle always told me to hold my head up high and don't let things get to me. He always told me to never cry when he dies cause he will always be looking down on me. He told me to be a leader not a follower and to have friends that would always treat me well.
