Marie Theiss

Marie Theiss, 77, of Bryan, passed away on January 6, 2021. Virtual services will be available at 5:55 pm, on Wednesday, January 13, on her tribute page at www.hillierfuneralhome.com.

Marie was a loving and joyous person, her uplifting character often shined through to everyone she met. She was always a happy person and her laughter would light up the room wherever she went. She had the ability to get along with everyone regardless of his or her background or circumstances. She would often inspire happiness in other people and carried a joyous attitude throughout her life. She will be most remembered for how dedicated she was to her family, especially her husband, and how happy she made people feel when they were around her.

Marie grew up in Humble, Texas, on a family vegetable farm. As you know, working on a farm can be hard work, but with work comes play; and they often found themselves having tomato fights and hoeing competitions in the field. Life on the farm was very busy and everyone had to help, she was no exception. Her father once made her clean "a mountain of shallots" before she could go on a date with the man she would someday call her husband. Obviously, Kenneth did not mind that her hands smelt strongly of onions that night, because they ended up spending the rest of their lives together in the following years. Marie and Kenneth spent 54 wonderful years together before his passing in November of 2019.

Marie married her loving husband on December 4, 1965. Marie and Kenneth often said that the best day of their life was the day they brought home their two children. Marie loved her family deeply and spent her days as a homemaker, spending her days cooking, baking, and managing the household.

Marie was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, for her entire life. She had a special relationship with her Lord and turned to him in prayer in the good times and the bad. She often expressed her faith through music and singing of hymns that expressed how she felt at the time. She lived a life of service to her Lord. She was passionate about spreading Gods word to the little ones at Sunday school for 35 years. She would help them to learn and develop a close relationship with God. She not only taught her Sunday school class about faith, love, and compassion, but she taught everyone she met about it. She truly had a passion for others as she helped guide them throughout their lives.

Marie was joined in Heaven with her loving husband, Kenneth Theiss; her parents Louie and Elizabeth Pali; and her two brothers Louie Pali and Johnny Pali.

She is survived by her son Shane Robinson and his wife Cynthia; her son Gary Theiss; her grandchildren Russell Theiss and his wife April, Sandra O'Hara and her husband Joseph, Taylor Theiss, Kenneth Robinson, Timothy Robinson, and Ashton Robinson; and her great grandchild Ricky Theiss.

The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the staff of Hudson Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center for providing Marie with loving care and kindness during her time there. A special thank you to all that visited her and brightened her days with shared laughter and songs.
