Lucy Blocker

Lucy Jo Blocker, 85, of Bryan, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 29, 2021. A compassionate, independent, and outspoken woman, she will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Lucy Jo was born in Denton, Texas, on May 31, 1935, to her parents, Robert and Lucy Maples. As a young girl, Lucy Jo escaped a terrible accident with a train that hit their car. She lived every day blessed to still be here after that. After graduating high school, she started a career as a Press Operator and Packing Forms.

Lucy Jo attended Cavitt Church of Christ in Bryan. She was known for her designer cakes and will be remembered by so many family and friends she made birthday and wedding cakes for. She also collected salt and pepper shakers. She loved crafts, shopping, cooking, gardening, and dancing. She enjoyed going camping. She loved her dog, Toby; the day she adopted him was one of her most special memories. Family was a big part of her life. She loved gathering for family reunions, she enjoyed every second she was able to spend with family!

Lucy Jo will be reunited with her husband, Charlie Blocker; husband, William Lee Scott; parents, Robert Lee Maples and Lucy Victoria Mills Maples; brother, Samuel Maples; brother-in-law, Johnnie Murphey; eight stepsons and many loved ones, including her loving dog, Toby.

Lucy Jo will be remembered by her siblings, Alice Jane Nuckels and husband David, Polly Murphey; sister-in-law, Sharon Maples; and numerous nieces, nephews; stepchildren, Bonnie Latham and Bill Scott, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, on Tuesday, June 22nd, at Hillier of BRYAN. A funeral service will begin at 11 am, on Wednesday, June 23rd, at Hillier of BRYAN and graveside services will follow at Restever Memorial Park.
