Kay Carey

Kay Carey, 83, of Bryan, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 17, 2021. Kay was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on September 21, 1937, to her parents Glenn and Erlene Johnson. She spent her childhood growing up in Memphis.

Kay was a very intelligent and educated woman. She went to Baylor University to get her Master's Degree in Psychology. She later attended North Texas State University to get her Doctorate in Philosophy Psychology. Kay used her education to serve others by becoming a Psychologist. She had a caring, servant heart, and helped many people throughout her career.

Kay met the love of her life, Benton Carey, while attending a meeting of the Texas Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Councils. They fell in love, married, and have been together ever since. Kay and Benton loved to travel together. They were especially fortunate to travel to Europe, South and Central America as well as the United States. They were able to complete 19 cruises mostly in the Caribbean.

Kay was a woman of great faith. She loved the Lord and it showed through the way she loved and cared for others. She was a loving mother, wonderful wife, and kind friend. Kay will be missed by all who knew her.

The memory of Kay will be remembered by her husband, Benton Carey; and children, Kenneth Ransom, Beth Ransom, Natalie Ransom, and Angela Ransom. Kay is reunited in heaven with her parents, Glenn and Erlene Johnson; sister, Carol Joy Snyder; and late husband, Philip Ransom.

A graveside service will be held at 2:45 pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
