Karen Henke Smith
March 2, 1962 – November 5, 2018

Karen Henke Smith was born in San Antonio on March 2, 1962 to Richard and Dorothy Henke. She passed into the loving arms of savior Monday morning.

Karen is survived by her husband Emmett Smith, her sister Linda and husband Matt Hanes, niece Candice and husband Oscar; nephews Nathan and Richie, and sister-in-law Lupe, mother-in-law Sue, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clint and Linda, Steve and Barbara, nieces and nephew Cheri, Laura, Lance, and Melissa.

Karen was proceeded in death by parents Richard and Dorothy Henke and brother Patrick Henke.
Karen graduated Marion High School, and went on to study nursing at Angelo State University.
After graduating from nursing Karen worked for Angelo Community Hospital for 15 years. Karen returned to Marion and was a nurse in a doctor’s office in New Braunfels, Texas.

Karen and Emmett met in May 2006, and married on June 30, 2007 in Marion, Texas. They spent the first 3 years of their marriage living in San Antonio; then in 2009, Karen and Emmett moved to College Station.

A visitation will begin at 9 AM with a Rosary to begin at 9:30 AM and Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Following a reception at the church, interment will take place at 1:30 PM at Franklin Cemetery.
