Johnny Milberger

Johnny Roland Milberger passed away November 10, 2018 at the age of 91.

Johnny was born in Houston on June 5, 1927 to Rosa and Henry Milberger, Sr. One of four children, Johnny loved to dance as a teenager. In high school he was so very proud to win an American Legion award. He was part of the last graduating class in Houston before high school became part of a twelve-year program. On the day of his 18th birthday, he signed up to serve in the Navy to fight in World War II. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Houston.

Johnny was working in downtown Houston when he met the love of his life, Carolina “Lena” Stehle. They were married on February 16, 1952 and were married for 56 years before she passed away in February 2009. The two were blessed with two children and four grandchildren, who were very important to them. To be closer to their grandchildren, they moved to Bryan in 1991. Johnny loved his grandchildren and was excited about his first great granddaughter.

Johnny worked as an accountant and retired after over 40 years with the same company. He loved to travel for pleasure, and went to many exciting and unique places all over the world. Johnny had an active lifestyle and enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to a bridge club. He was kind of a jokester, and often teased about something being a true story. Although Johnny was Methodist by preference, later in life he attended mostly non-denominational churches.

Johnny leaves behind his son Michael Ray Milberger, his daughter and son-in-law Donna Marie and James Pierce, his grandson Larry Thomas Weber and his wife Taylor, his grandson John Elwood Pierce, his grandson William Michael Pierce and his wife Samantha, his granddaughter Brittney Lawson and her husband Paul, and his newborn great-granddaughter Cecilia Marie Pierce.

To honor Johnny’s life, his family has planned a visitation on Tuesday, November 13 from 5-7 at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas. His Life Celebration service will be at 9 AM Wednesday, November 14, 2018, also at Hillier Funeral Home, followed by interment at Restever Memorial Park Cemetery, in Bryan, Texas.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Brazos Valley in Johnny Milberger’s name.
