John Silva

John David Silva passed away on April 9, 2019, at the age of 60.

John was born May 12, 1958 in Bryan to Paul and Helen Silva. Growing up in Bryan with his four sisters, he had a lot of friends and played baseball and football as a kid. Fishing was his favorite thing to do, especially if he could take his boat out to fish on the lake.

While John was in High School, he met the love of his life, Mary Jane. Soon after, they were married and began to build a wonderful life together and raise their four amazing children, Amos, Valarie, Natalie, and Paul. They had a wonderful life together, building memories and sharing their lives together for 43 years. These years were filled with many family vacations, cruises, road trips, and summer camping trips. Even though he used tough love when needed, his children never doubted his love for them. When they messed up, he told them "go get up and dust yourself off, keep going." Once grandchildren came along, John was thrilled to be a grandpa.

A gentle giant, John worked hard as a truck driver to provide well for his family. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and watching old western movies, especially John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies. He was a jack of all trades and was great at working with wood and being a craftsman and mechanic. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for his family. His fish frys and barbeque were really good. He was a long-time member of Sulamita Iglesia Evangelica, where his father-in-law is the pastor, and lived out his faith by reaching young boys through Royal Ranger Ministry.+

John was very straight forward and honest, not beating around the bush when he wanted to say something. He was generous and kind, willing to give the shirt off his back to someone who needed it. Fun to be around, he was always joking with people.

John leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Jane Silva; his son and daughter-in-law, Amos and Vicky Silva of Georgetown; his daughter, Valarie Silva of Bryan; his daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Samuel Martinez of San Marcos; his son, Paul Silva and girlfriend Courtney Davidson of San Marcos; and his grandchildren, Gabriel and Olivia Silva of Georgetown and Emma Martinez of San Marcos, plus another grandbaby on the way; he also leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Billy Zamora of Bryan; his sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Joe Rueda of Bryan; his sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Joey Frailicks of Bryan; and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Joe Garcia of San Marcos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen Silva of Milano, Texas.
