Joe Garcia III of Bryan passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at the age of 50.
Joe was born November 21, 1967 in Bryan to Elbira (Ayala) and Joe Garcia II. His father was a jack-of-all trades while his mother took care of home. He loved going fishing with his father and grandfather. Joe met his future wife Mary when she was just 13 years old. They parted ways for a few years before getting back together and getting married in 1998. She was his everything, and he was devoted to her. Joe had the biggest heart and loved being a father and later a grandfather. He enjoyed having a good barbeque and getting his family together.
Joe started working in the oil fields when he was just 14 years old. He worked as a floor hand to support his family until he became disabled in 2007. As of a hard worker as he was, he enjoyed life just as much. He loved to tell jokes and still enjoyed going fishing. His favorite spot was the Wonder Wash car wash on South College Avenue with his boss Chuck Janke. One of his favorite things was getting to dress up as Santa Claus every Christmas. He was a good man with a big heart and had strong faith in God.
Joe leaves behind his loving wife Mary, his sons Daniel Olvera, Saul Olvera (Chelsea), Jacob Olvera (Linda), Joel Olvera (Jenny), Moses Olvera and his daughter Eunice Moore (Calvin), his sisters Betsy Medina (Rolando), Theresa Garcia, Toni Galvan (Gilbert) and his brother Paul Garcia (Rose), along with 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his sister Janie Garcia.
To honor Joe’s life, his family has planned a visitation on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 6-8 at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. His life celebration will be Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10 AM at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan, with a burial to follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
To commemorate Joe, we ask that photos and mementos be brought and placed inside The Life Chest to share with the family.
