Jim Scott “Scottie” Jones
August 4, 1921 – September 26, 2017
Scottie Jones passed away on September 26, 2017, at 96 years old.
Scottie was born to Roy Harris and Dora Eve Jones in Belton, Texas, on August 4, 1921.
After graduating from Belton High School, she worked at Fort Hood and then attended Texas State University and The University of Texas in Austin to pursue a business degree. After graduating from UT, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she earned a Master’s degree in Psychology from Trinity University. Scottie worked a forty-one-year career in Civil Service as a Psychological Testing Administrator for Randolph and Lackland Air Force Bases. After retiring, she moved to Bryan, Texas, to be near family.
Scottie loved her family heritage, enjoyed traveling, and volunteered in her church library. A faithful Christian, she enjoyed attending church and participating in Bible Studies. She was a long-time member of Alamo Heights Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas, and she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bryan, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Grace Jones; and two nieces, Patti Ruth Jones and Jo Anne Elliott.
Scottie is survived by four nieces: Jimmie Sue and her husband Colonel Kenny Marquardt, Mary Lynn and her husband Randy McCarty, Rebecca Patek, Paula Morris and her husband Marty Morris, fourteen great nieces and nephews, and nine great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many friends at St. Joseph Assisted Living and Waldenbrooke Estates, especially Pat Griffin and Pat Rother.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 6, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Belton. Visitation will be on Thursday October 5, 2017 at the Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan from 6p.m.to 8:00 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral Service at North Belton Cemetery.
