Hortencia (Tencha) Franco Villarreal, 84, died peacefully on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2017, a sweet holiday filled with flowers and feelings of love.

Tencha was a lady of great faith and was one of the first babies baptized at Bryan's historical St. Teresa's Church. She married the love of her life, Isidro, on April 16, 1951, in Monterrey, Mexico.

She was a loving, stylish woman who was ready for any opportunity to have fun and travel adventures. Many remember her hospitality and exceptional cooking and baking.

Tencha loved music, dancing, baseball, quilting and sewing, flowers and gardening; she was fond of birds, especially cardinals. The greatest joy in her life was giving loving care and attention to her family and many friends.

She was born March 4, 1932, in Bryan, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isidro A. Villarreal and daughter Esmeralda Villarreal Prentice; birth parents Federico Franco and Antonia Gonzalez Franco and the parents who raised her Pascual Villarreal and Maria de Jesus Garcia Villarreal; sisters Eva Vargas, Maria Alonso (Manuel), Carmen Bernal (Joe); brothers Abraham Franco (Mary), Lupe Franco (Virginia) and Fred Franco (Rita).

She is survived by daughters Esther Villarreal Houser of Houston and Mary Hortencia (Tess) Villarreal of Bryan; sister Beatriz Cruz Minde of Bryan; grandsons Colt Prentice (Courtney) of Houston and children Faith, Maddox and Gavin, and Austin Prentice of Lockhart and daughter Victoria.

The family offers it’s thanks to the kind care-givers of Lampstand Rehabilitation Center and Pathways Hospice.

The Life Celebration Services will be Sunday, March 5, at Hillier Funeral Home 2301 E. 29th St., Bryan, beginning with a Rosary at 1:30 p.m. Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. and a reception following.
