Harold “Pete” Alexander Moss, a true gentleman and cowboy, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. He was born in Benchley, TX and attended Five Points Grade School, Hearne Elementary and then graduated from Hearne High School in 1944. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Canady Moss, in 1947 and enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage filled with hunting, water skiing, and time with family. Soon after, he enlisted in the Navy and served for nine years including the Korean War.
He then went to work for Gulf Oil and held several roles before returning to Benchley as a full-time cattle rancher. He lived a very active lifestyle for his entire 91 years. He had endless knowledge and utmost respect for nature and wildlife and instilled that love into all those around him. He was a natural teacher about all things involving cattle, crops, deer, and the outdoors. He loved visiting with his neighbors, family, and friends.
He became a Christian at age 15 and lived his life serving Christ and others. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas and a founding member of Five Points Church in Benchley.
His biggest passion and love in life was his family including his daughter Lana Moss Mauro and son-in-law Frank Mauro; grand-kids, Lucas and wife Jessica Mauro, Leighton Mauro and Lauren Mauro; great grand-kids Wyatt and McKenzie Mauro; and great nephew Austin Henderson.
Services and celebration of life will be held at Five Points Church in Benchley on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 2 p.m. with a graveside service following at Little River Cemetery in Cameron, Texas.
