Fred Martin Walsh Sr.
August 2, 1932 ~ March 6, 2018 (age 85)
Fred M Walsh, 85, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 in Sugar Land, Texas following a brief illness. Fred was born in Houston, Texas to Patrick and Burnice Walsh and spent most of his younger years in Houston and Bryan. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and while home on leave he married the love of his life, Mary. When he returned from Japan they settled in Houston and he worked at Houston Lighting and Power Company until retirement. During retirement he and Mary volunteered at Memorial Hermann and they travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and many places around the globe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Burr Walsh, whom he treasured throughout their 62 years together, his parents Patrick and Burnice Walsh, his brother Robert Walsh, his sister Margaret Mancuso and his sister Patty Graham. He leaves behind his three children, Katherine Walsh, Fred M Walsh, Jr., Michael Walsh; their spouses, Ron Noska, Kenda Walsh, Ida Walsh; and his grandson Cameron Walsh all of whom he loved very much. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Rollie Burr, and numerous nieces and nephews. His humor and generosity throughout his life was appreciated by all that were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed by all of us.
Services will be Saturday March 17th at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas with visitation at 10am and funeral services starting at noon. Those wishing to honor Fred may do so by donating to the charity of your choice.
