Faye Pearl Wales

Faye Pearl Wales, 80, passed away on January 16, 2019.

Faye was born on February 18, 1938 in Lyons, KS to Leonard and Floyd Durall.

Faye married Bert Benskin, Jr., of Shenandoah, IA and had two children, Brooks Benskin and Deanie (Benskin) Whitley.  After the death of her husband, many years later, she married Jon Wales, of Youngstown, OH and had one child, Michelle (Wales) McCord.

Faye excelled in school (she even skipped the eighth grade) but her formal education was cut short in her Junior year of High School after receiving a GED.  Her education did not stop there though. She passionately pursued her love of art and beauty. She painted and learned all she could about the art world.  In the late 90's she opened The Frame Gallery in Bryan, TX.  She was instrumental in framing several pieces of art for the George Bush Library and Texas A&M.  She helped artists, new and old, sell their art by organizing art shows for them.  One of those artists was Leon Collins, of Navasota, TX who had his first art show with Faye.  She also participated in art judging at Texas high schools and art appraisals for individuals.

She was a self-proclaimed piddler, making lamps to fill her house, painting and decorating birdhouses, organizing her life history in photographs, collecting interior design and gardening ideas, and remodeling her house to make her home a place of beauty.  She poured over books, old classics and new. For many years she was involved in a book club and over the past few years participated in a Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) group.  As a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she is already missed by many.

Survivors include her son, Brooks Benskin of Bryan, TX, daughter, Deanie and son-in-law Dan Whitley and grandson Conner Whitley of Corinth, TX, and daughter Michelle and son-in-law Neal McCord, and grandsons Noah, Finn, Beck, Greer, and granddaughter Hadley McCord of Denton, TX.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Grace Bible Church on Anderson Street in College Station.
