Edna Mae Pate, 93, of Bryan, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017. A time for family to receive friends will be from 10-11 AM on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan with a service to follow at 11 AM, also at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery.

Edna Mae was born on August 7, 1924, to Herman and Esther (Steck) Homeyer in Caldwell. She grew up enjoying roller skating on the square in Caldwell. She played piano for 10 years with the Steck and Loehr Quartet and at the Cooks Point United Methodist Church. Because she skipped the 2nd grade, Edna Mae graduated from Caldwell High School at the age of 16 and went on to business college in Houston to obtain her secretarial certificate. While working at the Bryan Air Base, she met the love of her life, Oda Len Pate and they were married on June 2, 1946, at her parents’ home. They enjoyed a long family life together being blessed with four children, Billy, Danny, Judy, and Glen.

Edna Mae was a happy and organized wife and mother, helping her husband with the ranch and putting her family first while also staying active in the community with the Fun and Friendship Club and the Bethel Baptist Church in the Harvey community, the Creative Memories Quilting Guild in Caldwell, and the Precinct 2 Volunteer Fire Department in Kurten. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, gardening, listening to Lawrence Welk and watching the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and her favorite soap operas.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Oda Len; her parents; and her brother, Ernest.

Edna Mae leaves behind her children, Billy and his wife Linda, Danny and his wife Carolyn, Judy Ludwig, and Glen and his wife Gerrie; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Michael and his wife Sara, Jason and his wife Dana, Elissa, Evan, Ryan, and Samantha, five great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jaden, Ainsley, Nathan, and Aaron; her brother Herman Jr. and his wife Sadia, sister-in-law Carolyn, and brother Thomas and his wife Doris.

Appreciation is expressed to the staff of St Joseph Manor for their outstanding care.
