Dawn Smith

Dawn Lynn Smith passed away May 12, 2019, at the age of 47.
Dawn was born March 15, 1972 in Castroville, Texas, to Carolyn Laurice Lisembee and Milton Louis Burrell Sr. Her father was a refrigeration technician for Carrier Air Conditioning, while her mother took care of the home. Growing up in the San Antonio area with her brothers Milton Louis Burrell Jr and Ashley Gene Burrell, Dawn was very rambunctious. She had her oldest daughter Reba when she was 17. Moving to Bryan in 1984, Dawn graduated from Bryan High School before going back to school and completing some college courses. She was in the LVN program.
Dawn was an LVN, specializing in geriatrics. A very compassionate woman, she loved helping people, especially her special needs patients. She took her job very seriously and always came home with the best stories. When she wasn't working, Dawn enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games and drinking, riding motorcycles, and watching movies on Netflix. She loved unicorns, her bike, her "Grapette" sign, and jewelry. Holidays were her favorite, especially Christmas when she could sit by the fire and have a white elephant gift exchange with her family.
Dawn loved her family dearly. She was married July 7, 2007 to Jim Smith in Somerville by Pastor Gary. Her children Reba Gayle Richards and Destiny Jewel Armstrong meant the world to her, even if they gave her fits by being just as stubborn as she was. As she always told them, "I don't have to like you, but I love you." This unconditional love also extended to her grandkids and to her pit bulls.
Dawn was a lot of fun, outgoing, and a bit crazy. She did not care what other people thought about her. Being a bit stubborn and ornery, her family lovingly described her as an asshole, embracing the fact that she spoke what she felt. Dawn did not hold much back. This did not detract from how loving and caring she was for her family and friends.
Dawn leaves behind her daughter Reba Richards and her boyfriend Chris Crinkovic, her daughter Destiny Armstrong, her grandchildren Ryleigh and Ethan, her brother Milton Louis Burrell Jr. and his girlfriend Libby Hargett, her brother Ashley "Gene" Burrell and his wife Tina, and her nephews Xavier, Corey, Jordan, and Colby. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley "Jim" Smith, her father Milton Louis Burrell Sr., and her mother Carolyn Lisembee Burrell.
