Christi Lynne Cheshire

Christi Lynne Mitchell Cheshire passed away June 29, 2018 at the age of 56.
Christi was born in Corsicana, Texas, in Navarro County on April 9, 1962 to George Thomas Mitchell and Zoe Anne Calloway Branch. Being a country girl from the farm, Christi grew up loving animals. She was very active in FFA in high school, taking part in many judging and leadership contests. She was also a star athlete on the volleyball court for the Corsicana Tigers and graduated in 1980.
It was while she was in FFA that Christi first met her future husband, Harvie Ellison Cheshire as their paths crossed many times. The two were married on July 12, 1986 and were married almost 32 years. During that time, they were blessed with five children, two daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. She was very proud of being a Tiger Mom. As both Christi and Harvie came from large family backgrounds, they agreed early on that family would always come first. Christi lived for her children and grandchildren.
After graduating from Stephen F. Austin University with a Master’s Degree in Education, Christi devoted her entire adult life to educating others and finding a way to make a difference in their lives. She devoted thirty-three total years to secondary education, starting out as a math teacher. Her current position was as Dean of Students at A&M Consolidated High School. It was common practice for her to work long hours and weekends to ensure that every detail was covered. She would spend countless hours tutoring those that needed a little something extra to help them. Whether that help was to graduate from high school prepare for SATs or ACTs, get into college, or even to maintain a sound GPA once in college, Christi was there. Whatever the need, whatever the situation, and whatever the issue, she would show up, set up, and help out.
When Christi was not at work, she enjoyed quilting. She created some of the most beautiful quilts along with hand made art decorations. She loved anything that would challenge her mind. The more difficult the better as Christi was able to multitask better than anyone. She saw this as one of the benefits of having OCD, which she would say was C.D.O. since that was more correct because it was in alphabetical order. She also loved to play board games and dominos. She was a fierce competitor. She was a proud member of the Bunco Babes of the Brazos Valley.
Christi leaves behind her husband Harvie Ellison Cheshire, her son and daughter-in-law Christopher D. and Jennifer Cheshire, her son and daughter-in-law Bradley E. and Holly Ann Cheshire, her daughter Danielle E. Cheshire, her son Jaylan M. Cheshire and girlfriend Sabrina Havemann, her grandchildren Raeleigh Mitchell Cheshire, Brailyn Harper Cheshire, Aria Lynne Marcum, Ellisyn Mae Cheshire, and Bullet Elijah Cheshire, her mother Zoe Ann Calloway Branch and Husband Byron Branch, and her brother and sister-in-law George Brian and Crystal Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her father George Thomas Mitchell and her daughter Dora Lee Cheshire.
To honor Christi’s life, her family has planned a private visitation on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 3 PM at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station.
