CHARLES “BRAD” BRADBURY
September 9, 1926 – September 28 , 2018

Brad, born during the Roaring Twenties in Fort Worth, Texas, was greeted with open arms by the great depression and world war ll. At 9 years of age, he was hired as delivery boy for Moseley’s pharmacy at 10 cents an hour. At the tender age of 15, he attended teas A&M majoring in Chemical Engineering. At 17 years of age, Brad volunteered for service in Naval Aviation during WWll. After the service he returned to college and was graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering.

After graduating, he worked for the Phillips Petroleum Company at its Kansas City Refinery. A member of squadron, during WWll, introduced him to Mary, Brads future wife. They were married in 1951.
In 1957, Brad was hired by the Kingdom of Iraq as an advisor to the Government Oil Refineries Administration, located in Bagdad. On July 14th, 1958, the Kingdom was overthrown by the military coup d’état. Foreign woman and children were air-lifted to Rome. Since brad was considered essential to the operation, he was not allowed to leave Iraq. Because of this, Mary refused to leave his side. After 52 years, Brad wrote titled “WE’VE NEVER HAD A KING”, based on their experience in Iraq.

Brad and Mary were the last foreign couple to leave. After returning to the U.S., they adopted a four day old beautiful baby girl named Theresa Charlee Bradbury.

Living in 8 different countries, they spent a wonderful fifty years together, before Mary’s passing. Mary’s urn is to be placed in Brad’s casket near his heart. They expressed a desire to spend eternity together.
Brad’s last position, before retiring, was Corporate Vice President of an international engineering company in charge of Business Development.
